Dragon Dance Assembly

This week, we had our dragon dance assembly.

It was in connection to our previous unit with the central idea:

Our culture and our origin are expressed in different ways.

Written below is an explanation by Tallis, Sarah, and Ryuki.

"Grade one and two learned about cultural expression. Japanese culture is different from Chinese culture. We tried our best to make a dragon using many colours and glued and cut.

The Monster Nian didn’t like the colours red and yellow. We needed many materials to make the dragons like paint, fabric, bedsheets, and boxes. In China there is a tradition to use red and yellow for happy times. That’s what we used. Because we wanted to express Chinese culture. "

In case you were too far away to be able to see the details of the five dragons, here they are!

Thank you to everyone who came to see our performance!

Have a great weekend :)
