Happy 100th Day!

Today was the 100th day of school!

We celebrated by working on various activities relating the number 100!

We made 100th day hats and glasses...

We created 100th day drawings...

We imagined ourselves being 100 years old...

and measured and added numbers up to 100!

We were quite proud of our accomplishments!

We look forward to sharing the learner profiles and attitudes we have been using next Friday at the end of Project Week!

Bye for now!

Sorting Books: Fiction and Nonfiction

This week we inquired into different kinds of books.

We started off by using a Venn diagram to sort some of the class books into two categories:
fiction and nonfiction.

We looked at past Scholastic book order catalogues to determine if the books were fiction or nonfiction.

Reading the descriptions helped us make our decisions.

We used our fine motor skills to cut carefully.

In the process, we found some of our favourite authors and other books we were interested in reading!

Now that we have a clear understanding of the different types of books, it will help us find books in the library that meet our purpose and interests as readers!
