First Week of School

Hi everyone! It's great to be back!

Introducing...(drumrolls please)...the Grade 4 learners of school year 2018 to 2019!

During the first week of school, we worked on various activities to practice cooperating as a team.

In the video below, we are working on a marshmallow challenge!

In this challenge, we were given half an hour to build a free-standing structure using only the following items: 20 sticks of spaghetti, 1m of tape, 1m of string, a pair of scissors, 1 large marshmallow, and a tape measure.

After the time was up, the measurement of one structure from the surface of the table to the top of the marshmallow was 44 cm!

We also worked together to create our very own learner profile posters. Take a look at the cool models!

Have a fantastic week!

Learner Profile Posters

Welcome to Grade 4 everyone!

It was so great to see some new and familiar faces to start off the school year!

During the first week of school, the main focus was on
working together to set up the essential agreements.

After some brainstorming, here is what we came up with.

Afterwards, we discussed connections between our essential agreements and the learner profiles.

We spent some time to work in pairs to come up with specific scenarios to represent each learner profile.

Here is one example of our documentation of a possible scenario!

Once we had our plans in place, we created these wonderful posters starring ourselves!

These posters will be kept on the Grade 4 classroom wall throughout the year as visual reminders.

Come by for a visit to take a look!
